Who We Are
Ray School is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural elementary school serving approximately 700 students from pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. The school is located in the heart of the Hyde Park community just two blocks from the University of Chicago campus.
Ray is an open enrollment neighborhood school that offers an exciting, challenging, and well-rounded curriculum for all students. To learn more about enrollment view the admissions page.
Mrs. Papczun has taught with CPS from 2007 to 2016, and then stepped out of the classroom to obtain a
master's degree in Education Policy Studies. Before graduate school, she spent two years teaching at Bret Harte and taught at the Ancona School last spring for a maternity leave. She also has two children at Ray and Mr. Papczun is one of the 6th grade teachers.
She says...
Hyde Park is our home and I am involved in the community as an advocate for our public schools, most recently organizing a community reading day which brought volunteers into our network's pre-k classrooms to read aloud. I believe in an interdisciplinary and inquiry-based approach to learning through honoring the natural curiosity of children. I look forward to supporting your kindergarten student as they grow, by embracing Ray's mission of fostering a love of learning. Please feel free to contact me through Class Dojo or at [email protected].
